Isochronous Real Time for PROFINET Stutensee - Once more Gleichmann Electronics and NEC Electronics Europe have strengthened their successful cooperation by enlarging the franchise to include the ERTEC-product group. The ERTEC-products (Enhanced Real Time Ethernet Controller) are based on ARM9-core with cache and integrate an enhanced Ethernet-Switch featuring the “Isochronous-Mode”. This mode is required to provide the highest level of Real-Time requirements within the PROFINET-protocol. These products also support all other PROFINET-definitions including the requirements for Real Time operation. |

The first device in the family is the ERTEC 400 devices and is already available ex-stock at Gleichmann Electronics. In addition to the ARM946ES-Core with cache, the device also includes: a memory-interface, a Local Bus Unit or a PCI-Interface and standard peripherals like UART, SPI or Timers. The heart of the device is the IRT-Switch with integrated 192k SRAM for management of the Ethernet-Data for the four Ethernet-Ports. The next device in the family, the ERTEC 200, will be released end of April. This is similar to the ERTEC400, but with the PCI-interface removed and only two Ethernet-Ports with integrated PHYs in order to be able to realize small and cost-effective solutions for interfacing to the PROFINET-standard. Target applications are motor-drives.
