The new evaluation kit contains a simple CPU module using the R8C microcontroller series. All pins of the R8C microcontroller are available on external pins and can be used for testing or to expand the module with external hardware. Three different CPU modules are already available covering the whole product family of R8C:
- General Purpose Module with R8C/1B offering 16 KB Flash, 2KB Data-Flash, 1KB of RAM, 1 x 16-Bit Timer, 2 x 8-Bit Timer, 1 x USART, 1 x UART, 1 x SPI or I²C, 10-Bit ADC in a SSOP-20 package.
- CAN / LIN Module with R8C23 offering 32 KB Flash, 2KB Data-Flash, 2KB of RAM, 2 x 16-Bit Timer, 2 x 8-Bit Timer, 1 x USART, 1 x UART, 1 x SPI or I²C, 1 x CAN, 1 x hardware LIN, 10-Bit ADC in a LQFP-48 package.
- Enhanced Peripherals Module with R8C/25 offering 32 KB Flash, 2KB Data-Flash, 2KB of RAM, 2 x 16-Bit Timer, 2 x 8-Bit Timer, 1 x USART, 1 x UART, 1 x SPI or I²C, 1 x hardware LIN, 10-Bit ADC in a LQFP-52 package.
No external power supply is required to run the evaluation kit. The power can be supplied to the module via the USB connection of the E8 debugger. A complete ready to go package of development and application software is shipped with the package: - Renesas HEW4 embedded workbench
- Evaluation license of Renesas NC30/NC308 C-compiler for all R8C, M16C and M32C derivatives. (60 day full version, then 64k code size limited)
- Evaluation license of IAR EW32 workbench with 4k code size limited version of the IAR M16C/M32C C/EC++ compiler
- IAR start-up code generator MakeApp
- Free tools for Flash programming
- Generic examples in source code for IAR and Renesas compilers
- Complete documentation on CD
As an option the R8C modules can be connected to the universal baseboard (MODSDK-BASE) that offers a comprehensive set of peripherals and interfaces required for typical microcontroller applications. Don't hesitate to contact us: Renesas@msc-ge.com
