ATMEL® announced new ARM7TDMI based Flash MCU with external bus. SAM7SE: ARM7 Flash MCUs with powerful SDRAM bus Atmels SAM7S, SAM7XC, SAM7A3 flash based ARM7 series are real single-chip solutions. By now expanding the SAM7S peripheral-set with a real powerful external bus interface (EBI) , that supports 16/32 bit SDRAM, 8/16 bit Flash, SRAM as well as CompactFlash® and a hardware error code correction (ECC), the new SAM7SE family is born.

SAM7SE is a functional compatible product to SAM7S with additional enhancements like Schmitt-Trigger inputs, Master/Slave Multi-Master I²C (TWI), Memory protection unit (MPU), 8 USP endpoints and up to 88 IO lines. Like Atmels other AT91SAM7 MCUs, the AT91SAM7SE-series has an 11-channel peripheral DMA controller (PDC) that increases on-chip bandwidth to 10 Mbps while maintaining 96% of the CPUs cycles for application processing. The PDC can store the streaming content directly in the external NAND Flash or SDRAM without CPU intervention making these MCUs ideal for data logging applications such as ambulatory medical monitoring. Available with on-chip Flash memory densities of 32K, 256K and 512K bytes, the AT91SAM7SE microcontrollers also include the same supervisory features found on 8-bit MCUs including a brown-out detector, power-on-reset, real-time clock, crystal oscillator, watchdog timer and three 16-bit timers. Communication interfaces include three U(S)ARTs, USB, TWI, I2S (SSC) and SPI. The device also has four pulse width modulators (PWM), an 8-channel, 10-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and 88 I/O pins. SAM7SE boots by internal security flash and gives you full protection of your intellectual property.MSC offers an exclusive SAM7SE Startup bundle, containing SAM7SE-Evaluation kit, SAM-ICE JTAG Interface and IAR® EWARM-KS toolchain (Ordercode: AT91SAM7SE-Startup Paket).
