Stutensee, Germany - MSC Vertriebs GmbH expands its modular COM Express family CXE-DX7520, which features the highest computing performance with extremely low power consumption. The two new modules are available with either Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Xeon® (Merom 667), which runs at 2.16 GHz, or in a energy saving, low-voltage LV version with a clock frequency of 1.5 GHz. The processor, equipped with 4 MB of L2 cache, supports Intel's VT virtualization technology and thanks to EM64T (Intel 64) can execute 32-bit and 64-bit wide instructions. The COM Express family CXE-DX7520 is based on the high-performance server chipset Intel® E7520 with 6300ESB south bridge. In addition to a DDR2 RAM memory controller with ECC and an interrupt controller, the device integrates three PCI Express ports and a PCI host bridge for 32-bit / 33 MHz PCI and PCI-X. |

The main memory can be expanded up to a maximum capacity of 4 GB by the insertion of DDR2 400 RAMs in the two existing DIMM sockets. To increase data security, error detection and single-bit error correction mechanisms are implemented. The COM Express interface of the CXE-DX7520 platform, implemented as type 2, provides two x8 PCI Express, one x4 PCIe, one x1 PCIe and PCI. In addition, two SATA, an IDE and four USB 2.0 ports as well as an Ethernet and a VGA port are available. The integrated PCI-X-based Ethernet controller i82541 PI allows the creation of a fast 10BaseT or 100/1000BaseTX network connection. The graphics controller, located on the assembly, works with an internal 4 MB graphics memory and offers a resolution of up to 1280 x 1024 pixels at a 60 MHz sampling rate. Designed for applications where high computing power and high throughput are required, the COM Express platform CXE-DX7520 is ideally suited for use in pattern recognition, in the high-energy physics as well as in medical and real-time systems. For evaluation and development support, MSC provides a carrier board with USB ports and PCI slots. The COM Express modules run under the operating systems Windows® XP (embedded) und Linux (OSADL).
