Titel: Low power COM Express modules with Celeron M® processors Date: 26.06.2008
Stutensee, Germany - MSC Vertriebs GmbH presents its new, low-end starter version COM Express platform CXB-PM915 with Intel® Celeron M® and Pentium M® processors. The module built with the low power Intel® Celeron® M ULV processor at 600 MHz features power consumption of 8 W typical and therefore, only requires a passive cooling. Low power consumption was also taken into consideration with the higher frequency versions built around Intel® Celeron M® ULV 1.0 GHz and Pentium M® LV 1.4 GHz.

In addition to the current process technologies of Intel’s embedded roadmap, the COM Express platform offers all modern interfaces such as three PCI Express™ x1 lane, a serial PCI standard bus, eight USB 2.0 ports and an 18-bit wide dual channel LVDS interface. The two existing Serial Digital Video Out (SDVO) channels are multiplexed with the PCI Express Graphics (PEG) card interface.

The desired audio functionality can be achieved via AC'97 or Intel® High Definition Audio interface. The wide offering of connection possibilities is rounded off with a Gigabit Ethernet interface and two SATA-150 mass storage interfaces.

The COM Express platform CXB-PM915 is based on the Mobile Intel® 915 chipset with integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator GMA 900. Dual independent displays are supported. The maximum CRT resolution is 2048 x 1536 pixels. Memory can be expanded via SODIMM up to a capacity of 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM (533 MHz).

The highly compact module, with dimensions of 125 mm x 95 mm, complies exactly with the COM Express™ Type 2 specification. As with all of MSC’s COM Express platforms, additional functions such as ACPI power management with suspend-to-RAM support, watchdog and system monitoring are also implemented on the powerful CXB-PM915.

The COM Express™ modules run under the operating systems Windows® XP (embedded) and Linux (OSADL). For evaluation and development support, MSC provides a baseboard with all interfaces of a standard PC.

The modular platform CXB-PM915 is ideally suited for future generation equipment based on cost-effective embedded PC modules with medium computing performance.
