| Mobile Power Supply Solution Seminar at ESS in Birmingham hosted by Gleichmann in conjunction with BMZ | Gleichmann Electronics UK Ltd. | |
Milton Keynes, 07 September 2005 - The need for power supply using primary cells or rechargeable batteries has increased dramatically. Many new products have to work independently of a mains supply, require a backup battery solution if mains power fails or keep some functionality alive if the product is switched off. In a joint seminar of BMZ - one of the largest battery assemblers in Europe and Gleichmann as their distributor in the UK will cover all of the battery system requirements: New technologies like NiMH and Li-Ion require more complex charging and protection circuits. Cell balancing is another new need to achieve maximum capacity and lifetime. In many cases the battery solution is looked at too late in the design cycle, causing problems with size or capacity if the case has been designed already, the charging and capacity counting or Battery Bus, or cost. As part of ESS we will present the latest technologies on the 19th of October 13.30 to 16.30. Participation is free but registration is required. The main points: The seminar will cover a battery technology overview: Lead Acid, NiCd, Nickel Metal Hydride, LI ION , including advantages/disadvantages, technology comparison and pricing guidance. The main points of the seminar: - Li Ion Manganese - the next step in Lithium technology? Applications, cycles, temperature range, lifetime, pricing tendencies - Lithium Polymer 10Ah to 100Ah, quality and price comparison to other technologies - NiMh - new development as replacement for NiCd NiCd not allowed after 2007? What has to be done and at which cost? - Cells manufactured in China Analysis of the top 50 Chinese manufacturers, advantages and compromises UN Transort Regulations, other battery approvals required in a global world - Charging and safety PCBs Counting capacity, fuel gauge, Bus systems, different ICs compared - Universal charger for NiCD, NiMH, Lithium Ion and Lead Acid Design and features, analysis systems for QA and Test Our battery specialists will be available during the seminar to answer technical and commercial questions regarding standard batteries and custom battery packs, charging, protection and cell balancing systems. Additionally we will be available on the 19th and on the 20th of October as we are exhibiting at the ESS Show, stand 330. For more information contact: Juergen Pintaske Gleichmann Electronics UK Ltd.
