Die SAM7 Families
All members of SAM7 USB family are based on SAM7S peripherals and security flash technology. They use ARM7TDMI core (55MHz, 50MIPs) with a security JTAG debug port.
  • SAM7S: General Purpose USB MCUs in LQFP48(no USB) and LQFP64, from 32K up to 512K Flash, 8-bit pricing !
  • SAM7SE: SAM7S + external SDRAM bus interface, 32K, 256k, 512K flash in LQFP128, announced for Q2 2006-
  • SAM7X: SAM7S + CAN + Ethernet MAC10/100 in LQFP100, 128K...512K Flash
  • SAM7XC: SAM7X + Cryptoeinheit (AES/3DES hardware engine with DMA)

Low cost tools from ATMEL / MSC and a perfect software support due to AT91-Lib and a lot of software examples from ATMEL will enable you to be an ARM expert in a short time.

The SAM7 peripheral kit
 ATMEL uses well proved hardware IPs for designing new SAM products. Big advantages are

  • Peripheral drivers are easy reusable
  • It is easy to switch to other SAM families
Flashing without additional tools
SAM7S, SAM7SE and SAM7X/C families have the built in flash tool. Simply connect the devices via USB or UART to your PC and flash your application with the free-of-charge SAM-BA or SAM-PROG flash tool utilities. With SAM-PROG you can realise gang-programming by using a simple UBS-HUB.
