MSC Samples Qseven™ Module With New Very Low-power AMD® Embedded G-Series Processor
New Embedded Module features low price, lean power consumption and versatile graphics
Stutensee, Germany – MSC Vertriebs GmbH announced support for the new low-power AMD® G-T16R with AMD Radeon™ HD6250 Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) for cost-sensitive applications on its Qseven™ module MSC Q7-A50M. Samples of the MSC Q7-A50M are available featuring the AMD G-T16R (single core, 615MHz), G-T40E (dual core, 1GHz) and G-T40R (single core, 1GHz).
The module version using the AMD G-T16R APU comes at a particularly economic price despite the sizeable computing performance and excellent graphics capability available from the integrated AMD Radeon™ HD6250 Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). This newly-introduced processor version is targeting price-sensitive applications not requiring Gigahertz CPUs but still leaning on fast and high-resolution graphics.
The AMD Embedded G-Series APUs combine a low-power CPU and a discrete-level GPU in a single processor chip. The APUs used on the MSC module feature very low power dissipation (TDP) allowing fanless system designs and highly integrated solutions. All three versions come with the built-in AMD Radeon™ HD6250 GPU which delivers very high graphics performance and supports OpenGL® 4.0, DirectX™ 11 and OpenCL™ 1.1. Single or dual independent high-resolution displays can be connected via HDMI/DVI, DisplayPort 1.1a and dual-channel LVDS and may reach up to Full-HD resolution. Equipped with the AMD Embedded A50M Controller Hub, the module features four PCI Express™ x1 lanes, two high-speed SATA-II interfaces, eight USB 2.0 host ports, LPC, High-Definition Audio (HDA) and a GBit Ethernet interface. Some module versions provide a SATA-connected Flash Disk (e.g. 8GB) usable as system boot device.
The MSC Q7-A50 module is suited for a wide range of embedded applications such as digital signage, industrial control, POS/POI and medical systems. Due to the AMD G-Series APUs’ low power, the MSC Q7-A50M platform is also highly suitable for mobile applications.
