Reference Design Kit for low cost TFT terminal solutions

Small TFTs are becoming more and more important to the industrial market because the price has come down driven by the mobile and PDA market to a very interesting level. With this new reference design kit developed by MSC we show to our microcontroller customers how to control small and medium sized TFTs without using an external display controller. We will soon release two different kits:

without using a graphic controller at all!

Low-Cost TFT Controller based on the 16-bit microcontroller H8S/2378 from Renesas. A special hardware feature of the H8S/2378 enables this microcontroller to drive a QVGA TFT without using any external control logic to control the TFT. The kit offers a complete set of hardware and software together with a 5,7“ QVGA TFT. On top we will supply this kit with all functions of a standard starter-kit including an E10A-USB JTAG-debugger from Renesas.

The second kit offers a high performance realtime platform based on the 32-bit RISC microcontroller SH7203 from Renesas. This chip offers a CPU performance far above the ARM based competitors. Because of this high performance RISC CPU the SH7203 is able to control a TFT display up to VGA resolution on the fly without putting a real load onto the CPU. The kit comes with a 2,2“ QVGA TFT and a additional 5,7“ TFT. This kit also comes with a complete set of hardware and software. It can also be used as a standard starter-kit including an E10A-USB JTAG-debugger from Renesas.
